Game guide

How to play.

Classic, daily, challenge, and classroom games have five rounds; Sprint has one timed round. Infer where and when each historical scene belongs, then compare your guess with the actual location and date.

Read the image

Use visual clues like terrain, architecture, clothing, vehicles, bridge designs, monuments, or construction methods.

Drop a map pin

Click or tap the map to set your location guess. You can zoom and move the map before submitting.

Set the year

Drag the timeline slider or select the year label to enter a specific date. BC and AD years are shown in familiar historical notation.

Review the reveal

After submitting, compare your line on the map, distance error, time gap, score, explanation, and inspiration image.

Common issues

If the map marker is not visible, click inside the map again and make sure the map is not still moving from drag momentum.

If a generated image looks unclear, use the image zoom controls before submitting your guess.

For score math, see how scoring works. For generated or reimagined scenes, read the AI disclosure.

If you spot a bad date, wrong location, or misleading visual clue, send scene feedback from the feedback page.

Scene quality and reporting

Some scenes are generated or reimagined illustrations rather than historical photographs.

If an image, date, location, or clue seems wrong, send a report so the scene can be reviewed.
